Blossoms

It has been unseasonably cold here in Victoria, but it does not stop spring from coming.  The magnolia trees on the boulevard are already dropping their blossoms and so are the ornamental cherry trees shown here.  Still, I cannot wait for the warm weather to arrive.

Mom's birthday isn't till the end of the month, but we had a little early celebration tonight.  The cake was delicious.

Ed came to the island for a few days. It was great having you visit with us Ed!! We went out for dinner with cousin Mike & Simmi and Ed managed to fit in a lunch with cousin Colin on Thursday.

Our niece Melanie was married on Saturday in Langley.  She is the daughter of Fred (Debra's brother) and Nancy (my sister).  It was a very nice wedding and reception.  Family flew in from Ontario and Alberta for the occasion.

Our friends Paul and Anne were leaving from Vancouver to fly to NYC, then Thailand via London.  We went over and spent a great evening with them and had an amazing dinner at Don Francesco Restaurant on Burrard Street across from the Sutton Place Hotel.  Want great food and have a large wallet?  Go there!

Oldtimershockey v Greater Victoria Firefighters

The game was a fundraiser for the Mustard Seed and a cheque for $5K was presented by the Greater Victoria Fire Fighters.  Oh, and the Oldtimers won handily.

Clayton with his friend Trent and I went to the NHL Oldtimers game at Save On Foods Memorial Centre.  It was a highly entertaining affair and those old dudes can still play hockey!  The ref was Ron Hoggarth who officiated over 1000 NHL games.  Tell you one thing, Rod Black from TSN who played and was a part time MC for the evening is hilarious.  And not a bad hockey player either.
