Roger Federer win's his 15th Major in a five set marathon over Andy Roddick.

I don't watch a lot of tennis, but do really like to follow Roger Federer in his bid to win more majors than Pete Sampras. If they meet in the finals of Wimbledon, I hope Federer whups this Pom!

Trista and I watched a special screening of Dolphins and Whales at the Imax. It was so that passholders had a chance to evaluate the film to see if it should be brought in. We think so.

Pens take Stanley Cup

Even without the late-game services of captain Sidney Cosby, the Pittsburgh Penguins stood tall in winning the Stanley Cup for the third time in franchise history.
Centre Maxime Talbot scored both goals, sending the Penguins to a 2-1 win over former champion Detroit Red Wings during Game 7 Friday night at Joe Louis Arena.
While Talbot provided all the offence the Penguins would need, goaltender Marc-André Fleury preserved the win with some final seconds of heroics.
Fleury made 23 saves on the night — none bigger than the one he made in the dying seconds of the game with Pittsburgh clinging to a one-goal lead.
With 6.5 seconds left, the Wings won the draw with the Penguins and crashed to net.
Fleury made the initial save, but the rebound went right to Detroit defenceman Nicklas Lidstrom. Criticized for his play during the three previous games at Joe Louis Arena, Fleury dove to his right to block the Lidstrom shot with his arm.
Evgeni Malkin earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP after notching 36 points. Malkin, registering an assist on the first Talbot goal, is the first Russian-born player to win the award.
Crosby, who appeared to favour his left knee, took a hard check from Wings centre Johan Franzen in the second and returned for only 32 seconds of the final period.
Remarkably, the Penguins won anyway.
Still, Crosby, 21, was healthy enough to receive the Stanley Cup from NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and raise it above his head — becoming the youngest captain to win an NHL championship.
Pittsburgh secures the franchise's first championship since the Mario Lemieux-led Penguins of 1991 and 1992.
The Penguins also become the first road team since the 1971 Montreal Canadiens to begin a Stanley Cup final 0-2 yet still win it all in the seventh and deciding game away from home.

Debra and I went for a Sunday drive along Dallas Road and through Beacon Hill Park. The statute of Terry Fox was unveiled a year or two ago.

Shamrocks 12 - 9 New West

The Victoria Shamrocks are back. After a disappointing year in 2008, the Rocks are out to a 5-0 start to the season and have already taken 2 games from New West who won the WLA last year to represent the west in the Mann Cup (losing out to Brampton). Clayton and I used to go very regularly and after attending last nights game, will certainly try to take in a few more this year.

A total of 11 km over 8 times in the pool. I put down 1 minute per 50 meters as a rule.

Victoria melts heat record

Expect another scorcher today with a high of 29 degrees in the forecast.

Greater Victoria set a new temperature record yesterday as unseasonably hot weather continues to scorch the region.

Environment Canada said the high of 30 degrees, reached between 5 and 6 p.m., surpassed the previous record for the day -- 27 degrees, set in 1978.

The average temperature for this time of year is 18 degrees.
