The sun is finally back and it looks like a wonderful week of weather ahead. Up to 26 degrees today and no precipitation in the forecast. Clayton's soccer team is playing a side from a school in Tewkesbury Gloucestershire UK. That is the hardest hit area in the England flooding.
We are billeting two boys aged 14 from the team and fortunately for them, both of their homes are on "high ground".

Rueb is spending a couple of days hiking and camping at Sombrio Beach. They (College and Careers group from Church) will be doing a 20 km hike from Botanical Beach back to Sombrio.

Parksville Beach

The face of the Parksville waterfront is changing quickly. You cannot see the beach from the main part of the road in many places because of these new buildings. The condo's are BIG TIME expensive.

Phew! 36.3 degrees in Victoria yesterday

When you figure it can't get any hotter, it does.
I had to drive to the store yesterday, and my air conditioning could not even put a dent in the heat and the steering wheel was still hot to the touch when I returned home.
Today is supposed to be a mild 27, which will be nice.

Record high temps - 33 degrees

We shattered the old record yesterday of 28.9 which was set in 1951.

Clayton's soccer team took Silver

After four days of high intensity soccer, Clayton's U16 soccer team took the silver medal. This was the BCSA Cup Provincial Championships which pitted the top 8 club teams in British Columbia against each other in a two pool round robin play which determined who plays in which finals match.

Our Gorge FC team tied the first match against Vernon United 2 - 2 on Thursday. The next game on Friday was against South Burnaby Metro Club and we emerged victorious with a 2 - 1 win. (Clayton scored our opening goal). On Saturday we played a team from the Bulkley Valley and were victorious 3 - 2.

This 2 win 1 tie record put us in the Gold medal game Sunday, which we narrowly lost 1 - 0 to take the Silver medal.

All four days were hot and sunny. We stayed in a house on Mt Washington.

We are off to the BCSA Cup provincial soccer tournament in Comox tomorrow morning.

Four games in four days, and it is going to be HOT.
