Exams
Trista had her Law 12 exam yesterday and felt it went pretty good.
Today Clayton wrote an exam (which one?) and said it went well.
Debra had her first Consultation for her Staging business on Monday.

Rueben graduated today
He wrote his final exam and finished the course with a very impressive 83%.
The Heavy Duty/Commercial Transport course is entry level training that is equivalent to the 1st year of school in an apprenticeship.
Now, to find an apprenticeship.

New Balance Half Iron - June 18
Team Flying Dutchmen
Fathers Day. New Balance Half Iron.Ray 2 km swim
Colin 93 km bike
Don 20 km run
Up at 4:40 am to get ready, eat, pick up Colin (Don rode his bike to my house) to get to Elk Lake for body marking and timing chip pickup.
The first wave of swimmers starts at 6:45 (men 18-39) followed by all the women. The third wave is men Masters 40+ and finally the relay swimmers. (63 teams)
The water was nice, no chop and with only 62 other swimmers to start with, I was not crowded or kicked (much). The hard part is the sighting. You need to find a marker in the distance and every 8 strokes sight it. (switching from side to side on the 9th stroke)
I passed some Master swimmers and women swimmers, and ended coming out of the lake and over the timing mat in 43:26. As I wanted to break 45:00, I was very happy.
I was 465 out of 596 swimmers. (lots of fast swimmers out there)
Colin was waiting by his bike in the transition zone, and I had to hand off the timing chip.
Colin rode an amazing ride, felt like he had everything working well and he tells me he was only passed by about 5 riders while passing a couple of hundred. He was not exaggerating as his time of 2:57, after he handed the timing chip off to Don, had our team in 206th place overall.
Don ran his first 10K at around 52+ minutes and the second slightly faster to finish his run in 1:43. Don's run was 207th overall.
Our team Tri finished in 197th place overall.
Visions of what we can do next year dance in our eyes.

End of week
As the weekend approaches, quick update.
Rueben finishes his work experience today. Please pray that he finds an apprenticeship and preferably here in Victoria.
Trista's grad class are having a semi-formal dinner tonight at a local restaurant.
Debra is meeting with her first client on Monday for a consultation for home staging.
That is step one, the next step is having the client ok it for the actual staging part which is where the fun begins.
I found the wet suit somewhat constricting, and if I don't find anything before Sunday, it may cause me some problems. Have to see how it goes.

Best Features Home Staging
It's official. Debra's new venture is called "Best Features Home Staging".
She will have a website set up (not there yet) with two domain names:

Exciting times ahead as she was contacted by our Realtor friend to discuss a 3 bedroom townhouse new listing for home staging.

Everything "Normal"
Just back from the doctor. The results of the scans show everything is normal. There is some calcification at the T9-T10, probably the result of some previous trauma. (none I can remember specifically from falling off of bicycles, motorcycles, skiing/snowboarding, hockey, lacrosse, work, running etc)
Great news, prayers answered.
He also said that my back is in remarkable shape for someone my age where there are normally some signs of degeneration in the spine. :)
Bring on the Half Iron swim on Fathers Day.

Week ahead
Well, Holland came through with a 1-0 victory over Serbia and Montenegro. Hup Holland Hup.
Clayton is doing his school Triathlon today.
Trista had her birthday party last Thursday night, and despite the rain, a few girls managed to make some smores in the back patio using the fire pot. (under the big umbrella of course)
Maybe she will post some pictures.
At 10:20 today I get the results of a couple of scans (CT & bone scan) that I had on my T10 disc. It is a bit sore and the doctor wanted to check it out.
Rueben and I picked up his new tool box(s) over the weekend. The bottom part weighs in at 230 pounds and the top at 125!! Try lifting those in and out of the van. (no wonder my back is sore)

World Cup 2006
Watched this mornings match England v Paraguay.
Nice to see England open their World Cup quest with a 1-0 win.
It was not the prettiest game, but the win is what is sought.
Rooney was on the bench but did not see any action.
Tomorrow morning we will be watching Holland v Serbia&Montenegro.
My friend Andy has a large screen television, and as we do not have TV, our World Cup fix will be filled at friends.

Busy Time of the Year
Quick run down of what's up.
Debra is away on a course in Vancouver from June 5 - 8 to gain her Canadian Staging Professional status. We have friends who the husband is a Realtor. He is going to offer staging as part of his service to his clients.
Rueben is just finishing his work experience from his 10 month pre-apprenticeship Heavy Duty / Commercial Transport Mechanic course at Camosun College. He will be pounding the pavement shortly to secure an apprenticeship and hopes it will be in Victoria.
Trista is nearing the end of her high school years and will be graduating from Pacific Christian School on June 29th. She plans to take a year off to work, put some money in the bank and then attend a post-secondary institution.
Clayton is finishing up Grade 9. He has had a busy last few years playing soccer almost non-stop. He just got a job at Don Mann Excavating as a 'greaser'. He will get a few hours every week greasing the vehicles. A dirty job, but good experience and a bit of money in the pocket.
Me? Still enjoying my work with SafetyCare. Away from work, I am doing the swim portion of our team New Balance Half Iron Triathlon on June 18th. The biker is cousin Colin Williams, and my marathon buddy Don Lovell is doing the run.
Guess that covers it for now.
