I like this jersey better

This is the jersey I was supposed to be handing off to my counterpart (Twitterer) from the Salmonbellies to wear at their home playoff game. Unfortunately, losing 4 straight foiled my plan.

Saturday morning walk and breakfast

We had the Breakfast Special at the Sour Pickle Cafe. (2 scrambled eggs, choice of sausage or bacon, hashbrowns and toast for $4.99) Very good and filling.

Reading in the paper it said we will not be experiencing any more of the hot weather (30 degree stuff) this summer. Further to that, we are to expect a colder and wetter winter. The nights are definitely cooler and you can feel that fall is in the air. Monday and Tuesday are supposed to be rainy and highs of 14 degrees.

Early Friday morning walk - Gorge Inlet

Debra and I enjoyed a nice long walk (with coffee and a yummy apricot/caramel cake slice at Cafe Fantastico) along the galloping goose towards the inner harbour. This picture is from the side of the Selkirk Trestle which spans the Gorge. There seems to be a lot of boats this year anchored in this spot.

Salmonbellies finish off Shamrocks

The season is over for the Shamrocks. The New Westminster Salmonbellies completed the four game sweep by winning the final game 17-8. Ouch. They now travel East to take on either the Peterborough Lakers or Brampton Excelsiors in the Mann Cup.

WLA Finals Game 3 in New Westminster

Queen's Park Arena in New Westminster is like the home of lacrosse. They replaced the wooden floor (with a new one) in 2005 but pay homage to the old one on one of the walls in the arena. The Salmonbellies are like the Montreal Canadians of lacrosse winning 24 Mann Cups.

The Shamrocks are in a big hole dropping the first three games of the WLA Finals. Last night in New Westminster, we lost 11-4. I had the opportunity to travel over to the mainland with the team which was a lot of fun (despite the loss). Game 4 goes Tuesday in Victoria.

Losing a wager

As previously mentioned, Clayton and I tweet for the Shamrocks. There was a wager between the person who tweets for the Bellies and us. We lost and had to wear the Salmonbellie jersey during Game 2 in our arena.

There's a mouse in the house

This morning, Karma chased a mouse into the house. It ran under the stairs which holds all of our sleeping bags and extra blankets and was quickly lost amongst it all. Debra and Clayton tried to help Karma by taking everything out of the cupboard but the mouse was too sneaky. Karma, after a couple of hours gave up the search. A little while later, Debra was on the couch in the TV room and I heard from up stairs "Mouse! Mouse! Hurry!" So we played cat and mouse and after some time eventually caught the little guy. Isn't he cute!! We let him go a little way down the street. (make our neighbours happy - haha)

Western Lacrosse Association Championship Final

Our hometown Victoria Shamrocks start the WLA finals against the New Westminster Salmonbellies on Wednesday night in New West. The Bellies are the defending WLA champs and will be hard to beat. Dragon Boat Festival

A very warm day for the Dragon Boat crews, but the inner harbour was packed with spectators. Friends of ours, Harry and Wilma, had their oldest son Nathaniel paddling for the Dragonaughts. They won the Jade division and looked very good doing it.

Painting the house

The sides of the house that get most of the sun exposure need to be painted almost yearly nowadays. This time we are priming with Kilz before applying the paint. Let's see if that helps to prevent peeling on the areas that have been scraped to bare wood. I do not think we will buy a wood sided house again.

On the bright side, it is very warm in Victoria and there is loads going on this weekend. Should be a fun time.

Fisherman's Wharf

After I dropped Debra off at work, I headed downtown for a drive and stopped in at Fisherman's Wharf. I really like the houseboat community there. It would be interesting to live on a houseboat.....

Shamrocks drop opener 10-6 to the A's

It is playoff time! Game one was ugly for our hometown Shamrocks. Coquitlam outscored Victoria 5-2 in the final period with the Shamrock goals coming in the last 2 minutes. The next game goes Friday in Coquitlam.
