Roadside find

 Debra's friend Margaret keeps an eye out for any good pieces of furniture for Debra to refinish and a few weeks ago Margaret and her girlfriend found this piece of furniture for free on the side of the road.
The piece was in very bad shape, the picture above is after all the repairs and sanding.

 ....and this is the after.

Several pieces of the original hardware were missing, but Debra had bought these years ago at a Garage Sale.  They are of the same vintage and style as  the original, so these really suit this piece.

This is the label on the back.  Neat hey?  This was originally intended for resale, but we like the piece so much it just might have to stay. :)

Those Amazing Young Men in their Flying Machines

Trista and I took a walk along the Dallas Road waterfront very near to where she lives and watched these guys hovering and going back and forth with the wind.  Looks like loads of fun!

World's Tallest Toten Pole - Beacon Hill Park

The Totem was recently repainted back to it's original glory.  It's height is 127' 7".  

Our hottest day of the year (I think)

Yowza!  It was 30 degree's in Port Alberni this afternoon when we were there.  Victoria had it's heat as well.

Cathedral Grove

After spending an enjoyable late last evening and this morning with Mom and Dad R, Debra and I travelled to Port Alberni to see what the garage sales there were like.  Today, it was poor.  However, we did have an amazing fish and chip lunch at the Clam Bucket Restaurant, and stopped at Cathedral Grove to walk amongst the giants.

Decendants of Treebeard?

On the highway travelling to Port Alberni, very near Coombs.  These are amazing driftwood creatures.  Very well done. 

Parksville Beach

We travelled up island today to see Mark and Linda at the store and deliver a few more pieces of furniture.  After the drop off, Debra stayed with Linda at the store and I dropped by Parksville Beach to get my toes wet in the Pacific Ocean.  It was a bit windy so the kites were out and there were lots of families out enjoying the water and weather.

Tree Fungus

We saw this tree fungus on one of our morning walks.  It is quite pretty so we thought we might share it with you.

Dragon Boat Festival

I met Trista in Cook Street Village, a short walk from her house.  We drove to the harbour to watch a few of the dragon boat races, take in the crowds and some of the festivities.  The picture of the drummers is not that good but they were great! 

Victoria Shamrocks Awards Lunheon

As you might be aware from other posts on lacrosse that we have put up, Clayton and I are the Twitter Masters for the Victoria Shamrocks. Being part of the "team" we were invited to the Awards Luncheon with the management, coaches, trainers and players.  Unfortunately for the Shamrocks, they were swept in the first round of the playoffs.  It is weird not watching lacrosse in Victoria past mid-August as this team was tipped to get to the finals and perhaps even the Mann Cup. Oh well, there is always next year. 

Willows Beach Oak Bay

Debra and I were out hitting garage sales in Oak Bay and dropped by Willows Beach to use the facilities.  It is a great spot with a nice sandy beach and shallow water which is great for kids. 

Hot Air Balloons - Edmonton

From Murr in Edmonton: Attached is a picture greeting me on my bike ride into work this morning.   Neat watching them float out of the river valley.

Tall Ship Pallada

Trista and I took in an Imax film "Born to be wild" and then walked to the harbour to have a look at the latest Tall Ship to dock in the Inner Harbour.  This one is the Pallada.

Away game against Langley Thunder

I flew with the team for Game 2 of the Western Lacrosse Association semi-final Shamrocks v Thunder. This picture is at the airport in Pitt Meadows.
