Mom R's Birthday Celebration

We had a wonderful birthday celebration with Mom R at Milanos in Nanaimo. In all there were 22 of us enjoying a meal and good conversation.

Afterwards, those who could went back to Ron and Corrine's in Parksville for coffee and dessert.

Saturday morning walk

We gave the Sour Pickle a miss this morning and headed in the opposite direction along the Gorge waterway. Our destination was Canadian Tire but first we needed COFFEE! We passed by this storefront with a Police officer in the shop looking things over.

It was a beautifully sunny day today but with a cold wind. It will be dropping to the freezing level or below tonight.

Look what we woke up to... more snow

We probably had about 3 cm overnight. It will be turning to rain and overnight temps of 6 degrees. The snow will be all gone soon.

Ok, spoke too soon

So now on Monday we have a snowstorm that started around 8:30 am and is supposed to dump up to 10 cm in and around Greater Victoria. Right now there is about 3-4 cm on the ground and the wind is howling. Glad we got the weather stripping finished on Friday.

Winters first blush

This will be about it for the first snowfall of the year. It is still forecast to be colder than normal over the next week or so.

Johnson Street Bridge aka the "Blue Bridge"

As we were walking home from our morning breakfast, we were treated to a sailboat activating the Blue Bridge. The City of Victoria is voting in a referendum next week to borrow $49 million dollars to replace the bridge. Read the story here.

Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary

We missed our morning walk today. You would think with the extra hour of sleep we'd be raring to go, but instead we both had the " I feel like I've been hit by a truck" feeling. So after church and some yummy lunch we headed off towards Swan Lake. The trails were somewhat muddy from all the rain last night, but it was a nice quiet walk. These first three pictures are of the Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary.

After breakfast we popped into Chintz & Co. What a great store. We both love this mirror, wonder how hard it would be to make one ourselves? We may find out.......

We walk past these native plants along the Galloping Goose trail. They seemed especially pretty today.

Fall leaves

Yes it is that time of year again. We run the lawnmover over all the leaves and it makes great compost. Today we had a high of 16 degrees in the sunshine. If fall could only stay like this. Sigh.

Chuckle of the day

Debra and I were on one of our morning walks and we passed an apartment building on Gorge road that is undergoing some renovations. We both got a chuckle from this sign.
