Ladysmith

Not only does Ladysmith have a good Thrift Store, it too has a nice marina and a working harbour. One of the two sawmills is idle (in the bottom picture).

Cowichan Bay

This morning we had breakfast at a little cafe where everyone knew each other. Great coffee and delicious pastry at surprisingly good prices. As you can see, Cowichan Bay has a great working waterfront harbour.

Oceanfront Resort & Marina - Cowichan Bay

Clayton won a gift certificate for a free nights stay at this oceanfront resort which he graciously gave to us. The bottom marina photo is from our very nice one bedroom suite. We ate dinner at the Bay Pub which had great seafood.

Mill Bay Marina

On our way up to Cowichan Bay. Just on the other side of the Malahat is the small village of Mill Bay. There is a great Thrift Store there, so while Debra checked that out, I wandered down to the marina to look around. It is not that well kept up as you can see by the photo. That is rather surprising as Mill Bay has Brentwood College School right beside and house prices that are not inexpensive.

The Canadiens tie their series 2 - 2 against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins in a thrilling 3 - 2 victory tonight at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Oh no, not again - Volcanic Ash: hundreds of flights cancelled

Hundreds of flights were cancelled and thousands of passengers left stranded today as the volcanic ash cloud wrought yet more havoc with airline schedules.

A VERY good 24 hours

I am a big sports fan. The Montreal Canadiens have always been my team and having lived on the west coast all these years, the Canucks have become my second favourite. In the English Premier League, I have been a fan of Fulham FC since 1999.

On our way back to the truck after lunch, we walked by this guy on the bench. I tried to carry on a conversation with him, but to no avail. :)
