It was too awful to contemplate a picture

It snowed overnight here in Victoria!! I could not bring myself to take a picture for all the world to see. It is hard enough admitting it here on our family blog.

Trip to Vancouver

Time is flying by. This was last Wednesday night from my hotel room on the 16th floor of the Sandman Signature Hotel in Richmond. You can see the lights from Grouse Mountain. (you get the most amazing views of the city on a clear night from the slopes)

Sunday at Cattle Point

In the Uplands area of Victoria, Cattle Point offers great ocean and island views.

There are two boat launches at Cattle Point and many people walk along the rocks and the surrounding trails. Sunday was a beautiful day in Victoria.

We watched the boat on the right for a while. He was getting full use of the wind.

It seems to be a sailing paradise as well

The sounds of Spring are in Victoria

As Debra and I ventured outside on Saturday morning we were delighted to hear the first signs of spring with a neighbour mowing his lawn. Soon after the smell of fresh cut grass wafted over the backyard.
The annual Victoria Blossom count will be tallied and we will let you know this years results.

The garden is showing it's first signs as well.

THIS IS A WARNING THAT POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WINDS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS..LISTEN FOR UPDATED STATEMENTS.

A LOW PRESSURE CENTRE OVER THE EASTERN PACIFIC TRACKING TOWARDS THE OREGON COAST IS PRODUCING STRONG SOUTHEASTERLY WINDS OF 50 TO 70 KM/H OVER WEST VANCOUVER ISLAND. THESE WINDS WILL SPREAD TO GREATER VICTORIA LATER THIS MORNING AS THE LOW MOVES SOUTHEASTWARD. WINDS WILL GRADUALLY ABATE LATE THIS AFTERNOON OVER WEST VANCOUVER ISLAND AND THIS EVENING OVER GREATER VICTORIA AS THE LOW WEAKENS. MEANWHILE THE LOW IS ALSO PRODUCING SNOW OVER VANCOUVER ISLAND. TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS RANGING FROM 5 TO 15 CM ARE EXPECTED FOR THE ABOVE MENTIONED REGIONS TODAY AND TONIGHT. ELSEWHERE OVER THE SOUTH COAST SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF UP TO 4 CM ARE POSSIBLE.

These pictures show what the parking lot looks like when you have missed the previous sailing by about 5 minutes.
The traffic was remarkably light yesterday. We left Whistler at approximately 10:45 am and arrived at the ferry terminal at approximately 1:05 pm.

Debra and I spent a number of good days (and nights) with our friends Paul and Anne in Whistler. The drive back home was not nearly as 'eventful' as the last time with the snow staying on the mountain as opposed to the roadway.
