Inner Harbour and Imax with Trista

I met up with Trista by the Inner Harbour and we took in the Imax film "Rescue".  It was very good.

There are loads of tourists and the harbour was very busy with boat traffic as well.

One of the many water features in the park.  It was a beautiful warm and sunny day in Victoria.  Easily our first true day of summer. 

Family is in town

On Thursday John, Jenny (Debra's sister) and their daughters Charlene and Shannon with Shannon's two oldest children Elsaysha and Wesley came over for a visit.  We had dinner together and they stayed overnight.  We had the firepot going and enjoyed a very nice visit with them all.  Come again soon!

Our workshop

Debra's furniture refinishing and distressing business continues unabated. After we have enough pieces, we take them up to her sister Linda's store in French Creek (between Parksville and Qualicum Beach).  The store is called Second Hand Rose and if you are in the area, please stop by. 

Welcome back Ariel

We were the first to welcome Ariel back to Canada in person.  She spent the last year and a bit in Japan teaching ESL.  It was great to see her again and Trista enjoyed having her stay with her at her place in Fairfield. 

Olympic View Golf Club

All golf courses are very picturesque and this one gets its name from the various picture perfect views of the Olympic Mountain Range on the Olympic Peninsula, WA 

It's no wonder golf is such a great pursuit as being on a course for 4-5 hours in nice weather chasing a little white ball allows for the world to be left behind for a time. 

A member of my (Ray) Toastmasters club is the Events Coordinator and a golf pro at Olympic View. He organized the 1st Annual Toastmasters Golf Classic and invited three of his fellow toastmasters to tee off at 4:06 pm.  It was his treat and turned out to be a great treat. 

Anniversary dinner and carriage ride

We went out for dinner with our friends Dennis and Ally at the Canoe Club.  The food was great, they have a great patio and the beer was very tasty.  The live music was a pleasant surprise and they were very good. 

Afterwards, we enjoyed a horse drawn carriage ride around James Bay. 

Trista's 10 day SALTS Trip

Trista waiting to get "checked in".  They call your name (randomly) and you get to go down and pick a bunk that will be your home for the next 10 days.  Then you gather your gear and stow it.  

There are two SALTS boats.  The Pacific Swift (the one Trista is on) and the Pacific Grace.

Pacific Swift

The trip is 10 days long and the journey is up the inside passage of Vancouver Island to Desolation Sound and back again. It is the first and only leg of the circumnavigation of Vancouver Island that departs and returns to Victoria.
