Whistler - Horseshoe Bay

There was no snow in the village or visible on the lower part of the mountains. However, there was loads of activity and everyone getting ready for the new ski season.

The drive back was slowed by construction and the volume of traffic. We missed the 5 pm boat and had to wait around for the 7 pm sailing. The nice thing about the Horseshoe Bay terminal is you are allowed to leave the terminal and walk around Horseshoe Bay. We had a nice dinner at a place called Trolls which apparently is a local landmark and famous for Fish and Chips.

Trip to Chilliwack - Bibles for Missions Celebration

Beautiful view from the ferry heading to Vancouver for the day. Debra volunteers at the local Bibles for Missions Thrift Store. Today was a celebration for the volunteers from all of the BC stores. The first store opened in Chilliwack in 1989 and to date, $25 million dollars has been sent to the Bible League. Across Canada there are presently 31 stores.

We took our car over as we were heading up to Whistler to stay the night at Paul and Anne's place. There were 20 other volunteers from Victoria that drove over by bus.

Sue is spending a few days with us at the end of her western Canada swing. It is great to catch up on family news and we are enjoying her visit. Tomorrow Debra and I are going to Chilliwack for a Bibles for Missions Thrift store BC get together and then up to Whistler for an overnight stay. Suzanne and Trista will be spending Saturday together in Sidney walking around and exploring the shops. Sunday Rueben will give her a lift to the airport. I think it is unanimous that we all wish Ariel could have accompanied Suzanne on this visit, but maybe next time?

Took a walk around Canada Place convention centre. I worked on this building prior to Expo 86. It is one of my favourite spots to walk around when I am in Vancouver.

Election Night in Canada - update**

We exercised our democratic right to vote tonight.
The polls suggested a minority government for the Tories, but time will tell where the gains or losses will take place across the country.

** as predicted, the Tories were elected in a minority government. They did however, gain a good number of seats from the Liberals.

Power outage - Thanksgiving Day

We lost power on the Island (from Ladysmith down to Victoria). It went out at 5:45 pm and for us it came back around 6:30 pm. However, most of the affected area is still without power as I write. We were just finishing up our Thanksgiving dinner.
